Discipleship
What I’ve Learned from How Jesus Prepared His Disciples
Mark 6:7–13
As I spent time in the Word this morning, I was drawn to how Jesus prepared His disciples before sending them out. There’s so much wisdom in His way — and it speaks deeply to my own walk of faith.
1. He Called Them
Jesus first called those who were willing — those who gave Him first place in their hearts and were ready to follow wherever He led. It wasn’t about perfection, but about surrender.
2. He Taught Them the Truth
Not just through words, but through His daily walk with them. He showed them how to live in this world without falling into sin — how to love, serve, and trust the Father in all things.
3. He Sent Them Out
Two by two, into a world in need. He told them to carry only what they needed — no extras, no distractions. They were to preach boldly, but not be discouraged by rejection. If some refused to listen, they were to move on, trusting the work to God.
🕊️ My Prayer Today
Lord, this is my prayer.
I need Your Spirit to live in me.
Teach me. Shape me. Walk with me.
Help me to silently, faithfully obey Your call.
Let me carry only Your burden — because it is light.
Help me, Lord.
I too pray the same prayer. That I'll serve the Lord without distractions of life. That I too would devote myself to sharing all the good things I know about Jesus, with others, so they too can enjoy his presence in their lives.
ReplyDeleteThank you Naadia for this comment. I too want to serve Him without distractions of life. I do not want to focus on the issues I am facing everyday, as He asked us to cast all our cares upon Him, for He care for us. I want to heed to that and then have a free mind to serve Him
